Striking caramel brown opaque glass

511351

This colour is part of the regular CiM palette

  • Stone Ground is a reactive glass containing silver and is good for classic colour combinations where you might usually want to use Effetre Opal Yellow.
  •  I found that Opal Yellow is softer and slightly quicker to melt than CiM Stone Ground.
  • I find that Opal Yellow can be quite shocky whilst the Stone Ground was very well behaved when introduced to the flame.
  •  Stone Ground appeared to be a striking colour, moving from pale creamy to caramel/tan when I heated the beads from cool to melt in raised dots. Opal Yellow remained consistently pale without any signs of being a striking colour at all.

Picture description:

A direct comparison between CiM Stone Ground and Effetre Opal Yellow. These pairs of beads were made to the same design with stacked dots of Effetre handpulled Copper Green, Effetre Dark Turquoise and CiM Cranberry pink

I made these beads in autumn 2010
